Project Based Learning is a teaching method in which students gain knowledge and skills by working for an extended period of time to investigate and respond to an authentic, engaging, and complex question, problem, or challenge.

STEM is a curriculum based on the idea of educating students in four specific disciplines — science, technology, engineering, and mathematics — in an interdisciplinary and applied approach.

THE BENEFITS OF PLAY: Play allows children to use their creativity while developing their imagination, dexterity, and physical, cognitive, and emotional strength. Play is important for healthy brain development. It is through play that children at a very early age engage and interact with the world around them.

LEARNING A SECOND LANGUAGE:  Language learning correlates with higher academic achievement on standardized test measures. It is beneficial in the development of students' reading abilities and there is a correlation between second language learning and increased linguistic awareness. 

At Westside Academy students in every grade take a foreign language class with a
                     choice of  Arabic or Spanish.

Language learning helps develop strong cognitive skills, such as better concept formation, mental flexibility, multitasking, listening skills, and problem-solving, in addition to improving social interaction and encouraging connections between peers. Medical studies have shown the positive effects learning a second language has on the brain. compared to those who can only speak their native tongue.
